Latitude GLC is grieving the tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We join with others in the global community who collectively mourn for Mr. Floyd, his family and friends who have been directly affected by his senseless and brutal death. We seek to grasp why this type of injustice and intolerance continues to exist in our culture and how we as a nation can demolish the spiritual and social stronghold of racism.
We pray for justice and righteousness to be carried out, for healing and racial reconciliation to prevail. We pray for respect and understanding, confession and forgiveness, peace and safety for all those who lawfully protest and for those who protect their right to protest. We pray for wisdom and protection for our public officials, law enforcement agencies and first responders who are honorably serving and protecting our citizens during this time of national unrest.
Latitude GLC believes that God desires to reconcile all of us to himself and to each other through Jesus Christ. He has entrusted his church with the “ministry of reconciliation…And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” So, we implore our nation, “Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:19-21, NIV). Let us all humble ourselves before God and each other. Let us confess our sins and repent in brokenness before God as individuals, families, communities and a nation. God, we ask you in the name of your Son Jesus Christ, bring healing of our land!
By God’s grace, Latitude will continue to influence and invest in the next generation of courageous spiritual leaders who will be catalysts for justice, racial reconciliation and spiritual transformation.
